Ten years ago the Alexandria Post-War Suburbs Historic District was listed on the National Register.
Our historic district was the first in the city to have banners. Unfortunately, the city has not maintained them and they are mostly in disrepair or long gone. Maybe we can influence the Mayor to have them replaced in all of the historic districts in the city.
On July 13, 2013 a great celebration was held in the district, complete with trolley tours, local music, and walking tours. Neighbors living in the district and throughout the city turned out on a beautiful day. The following appeared in The Town Talk. (click photos to enlarge)
